Our History

Who We Are

The Centre for Emergency and Development Support (CEDS) was formed during the South Sudan civil war period in 2001 in Nairobi Kenya.

After the signing of the CPA in 2005, the organization was incorporated in South Sudan in 2005 to support national efforts in addressing relief, rehabilitation and development challenges in Southern Sudan. CEDS is national NGO fully registered with the Ministry of Justice RSS and with the Relief and Rehabilitation Commission in Republic of South Sudan, Certificate Registration Number 228. CEDS implements its activities Northern Bahr el Ghazal State-Aweil, Warap, Lake State and Western Bahr el Ghazal State focusing on infrastructural development, water, hygiene and sanitation (WASH) in emergency and Integrated WASH, Food security, Education, Emergency health, prevention/and mitigation of conflict, and Gender based violence. CEDS coordinates its annual programs with the State line Ministry of Water and Rural Development, Ministry of Agriculture and forestry, Ministry of Health.

CEDS envisions a poverty free society , socially, economically self-reliant and conscious about basic rights and human dignity.

Our Goal

Ensuring that the poorest and most vulnerable affected by humanitarian crises have access to the fundamental rights of life. i.e. adequate shelter, food, water and sanitation, healthcare, education and economic opportunities.

Our Mission

CEDS works to assist the needy and neglected people at grass root level and find access to sustain in the society with due dignity. Therefore CEDS will take all necessary initiatives /measurer towards empowerment and self-determinations of community people enabling them to solve their own socio-economic problems by themselves towards poverty elevation.
